Directed by Kaveh Mazaheri, the 15-minute short will be in contention at the 15th edition of the Italian film event.
The film narrates the story of a young married couple and their 5-year-old kid. The three of them are grabbling with financial issues that the father of the family has brought upon them.
A brief synopsis for ‘Funfair’ reads, “Majid, a financially struggling man, comes up with a ploy in order to better the life of his wife, Sara”.
The short has already attended a number of global events and claimed several awards, including the special mention of the Winchester Film Festival in the UK, the Best Screenplay Award at the Scene film festival in France and the Best International Short Film at the Foyle Film Festival in the UK.
The ambiance of ‘Funfair’ is somehow the same as Mazaheri’s most acclaimed short ‘Retouch’ which has so far won a huge number of awards.
In both works, there is a woman who finds the chemistry of her relationship with her husband not to be functioning as it is supposed to be.
The cast list of the flick includes Sonia Sanjari, Soroush Saeedi and Artin Rabiee.
Established in 2005, the Dieciminuti Film Festival claims to work like a school which brings together the young and talented to approach the cinema of the world.
The upcoming edition of the event was originally slated for March 17-21, 2020 is re-scheduled for June 8-13. The event has been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak.
